Awareness Talk for Maintenance of Records Department at RGGGH, by MOHAN Foundation

  • Mr. Prakash, Transplant Coordinator organized an awareness programme at Maintenance of Records Department at RGGGH on November 18th 2013. The aim of the programme is to sensitize the staff about the importance of organ donation. 

     

    Mr. Prakash explained about the concept and the need for Organ Donation and Transplantation. The following topics were highlighted in the session. What is organ donation?  Who can be the Donor? What organs can be donated before and after death? What is Brain Death? Difference between Brain Death and coma and about the importance of Donor Card.

     

    Few queries were raised during the interaction 

    • What are the organs can be donated by a diabetic patient?
    • In case of natural death whom should we inform for cornea donation?
    • How  are organs allocated?
    • What is the role of transplant coordinator?

     

    Totally 16 members participated in the programme and 12 participants pledged their organs by signing the donor card. Finally the programme was ended with Mr. Prakash thanking the participants for their patient hearing. One of the staff members requested the transplant coordinator to give awareness talk in Cancer Institution on sensitizing the staff about the concept of organ donation.
