An awareness talk on organ donation was organized by G.E.T Water Solutions Pvt.Ltd.., Ekkatuthangal, Chennai on 23rd November 2013 for their staff. The organizing team requested the MOHAN Foundation to support them for the noble cause. Ms. Sunitha A. T. and Mr. Jeyapal M. Transplant Coordinators, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai gave a talk on the concept and the importance of organ donation.
The programme started with an introductory speech given by Mr. Joseph Mathew, Managing Director. He motivated the staff to pledge for organ donation with a donor card. The group was divided into three groups and separate session were held for each group.
Ms. Sunitha and Mr. Jeyapal, Transplant Coordinators explained about Organ donation through PowerPoint presentation. In their session they covered following topics: importance of organ donation, types of donations – live and deceased donation; difference between coma, cardiac death and brain death, organs that can be donated, preservation time of organs, donor card and activities of MOHAN Foundation.
More than 90 members were participated in the Programme. After the session they distributed the organ donation concept form to pledge their organ more than 85 of them were expressed their wish to donate their organs. 5 of them were willing to join as volunteers in MOHAN Foundation to support for the good cause
The day ended with a Vote of Thanks given by Ms. Deepa and Malar Vizhi Proposal Engineer G.E.T Water Solutions.
