Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Medilane Foundation, Imphal

  • On July 30, 2022, Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, MOHAN Foundation and Ms. Thoidingjam Udayini Khuman, Transplant Co-ordinator, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the HR team of Medilane Foundation, Imphal to deliver a talk on organ donation. The session was organised as a part of the staff’s weekly training program done every Saturday.

     

    Medilane Foundation is a non-profit organisation which contributes a major role in providing affordable medical facilities, promoting health education and guidance for both the rural and urban areas of Manipur. Some of the facilities includes ambulance services, health camps & screening programs, awareness programs related to medical and non-medical problems, home care services, etc in different districts of Manipur.

     

    The session was attended by Dr. Pibarel Meetei, Founder & Managing Director of Medilane Foundation, Dr. Pinkey Thiyam, Co-Managing Director of Medilane Foundation, the HR team, the administrative and non-administrative staffs of the organisation.

     

    Ms. Monica began the session by sharing green ribbon (a badge of honour, a symbol of giving hope & sharing life through organ donation) to all the participants. Further, she highlighted about MOHAN Foundation, its objectives and visions.

     

    Points elaborated during the presentation: -

    • Organ donation & its need.
    • Types of donations & who can be a donor.
    • Status of organ donation & transplant waiting list in India.
    • Facts and myths on organ donation.
    • Laws enacted for transplantation.
    • Importance of the donor card & how to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website.
    • The importance of family consent in the process of organ donation.

     

    After a short Q & A session, a small gift was handed over by MF team to Dr. Pibarel and Dr. Pinkey as a token of appreciation. The session was concluded by Dr. Pibarel by briefly stating the impact of organ donation in saving lives. He also extended his support towards promoting the cause and initiating more such activities in the state of Manipur.

     

    The staff were keen in discussing the cause of organ donation with their families and friends.

     

    Close to 25 participants attended the session.
