  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Medical College Employees State Insurance Corporation, Sanathnagar, for an awareness session on organ donation and its concepts on August 30th, 2019. The medical and nursing students, as well as the faculty and other employees of the institute were the audience.

Social activism is an art of helping others who are in need of it. So, session was started by Mrs. Lalitha Raghuram - Country Director, MOHAN Foundation with the concepts of organ donation and its importance for an hour. She began with an introduction of MOHAN Foundation and the importance of organ donation, making it interactive with questions, discussions and clarifications. The audience was very interactive and eager to know about this aspect and its procedure in detail. Many doubts and misconceptions that they had about this subject were clarified by Mrs. Lalitha. Around 150 participants were present at the programme and all of them pledged their organs and received donor cards.

Following this, the Anatomy HOD of ESIC spoke about whole body donation. The students also acted out a role play on the subject which inspired a few to sign up as body donors. ESIC had also invited a whole body donor’s family to felicitate their noble act. Two of the family members also spoke about why they donated their beloved one’s body to the medical college and mentioned the key role played by MOHAN Foundation in their case and other activities it had done until today.

The session went off well and many of the audience got a fair idea about what organ donation is, who can donate organs, the types of organ donation, and a few other topics. Participants were very highly interested to promote organ donation and they assured that they would make their family, friends and others aware of it. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to ESIC Medical College for the opportunity and both look forward to future collaborations.
