A webinar on awareness about Organ Donation conducted at Asha Hospital, Kamptee, Nagpur

  • On 27th September 2022, a virtual talk on organ donation was organized by Dr. Rajendra Agarwal for the nursing staff of Asha Hospital, Nagpur. Dr. Rajendra - Director of Asha Hospital, invited Mr. Bulu and Dr. Ravi Wankhede to conduct this talk.

    Dr. Wankhede began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its objectives.

     He then addressed the audience by asking a few questions on organ donation and elucidated the need and importance of organ donation and engaged the audience with a presentation

    The following were discussed thoroughly:

    1. Why donate organs?
    2. Who can donate?
    3. Age limit to donate organs.
    4. Which organs can be donated in – Natural and Brain death
    5. Concept of Brain death and Circulatory death
    6. Organ Donation scenario in India as compared to rest of the world
    7.  Myths Vs. Facts about organ donation
    8.  How the audience can get involved in the cause of organ donation?
    9.  Donor card and its importance.

    The audience actively participated in the session and asked certain questions which are mentioned below:

    1. After a person is declared as Brain dead, what will be the next procedure to donate his/her organs?
    2. How to register for organ transplant?

     

    Dr. Wankhede answered all the questions clearly and patiently. Close to 20 nursing staff were present for the talk. We thank the Director of Asha Hospital for inviting us and supporting the cause of organ donation.
