Talk on Deceased Organ Donation for members of Jyothis Kidney Federation, Trivandrum

    Joyithis Kidney Federation, was established in December 2013 to promote organ donation and to do charitable work for patient those who are suffering from end stage organ failure. As part of the NGO’s official inauguration and world kidney day celebration, on 13th March 2014, an awareness talk on deceased organ donation was organized by Mrs. Jolly Job, President, Joyithis Kidney Federation to sensitize the members working in organ donation. Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala Network for Organ Sharing was invited to address the gathering at their office.

     

    The event started with the welcome speech delivered by Mrs. Jolly Job.  Inauguration of the NGO office was done by Mr. Shakthan, deputy speaker, Kerala Legislative Assembly.

     

    Mr. P. V. Aneesh, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, deputed to Mrithasanjeevani, Trivandrum Medical College, Kerala delivered the talk on organ donation. In his talk, he explained the Concepts of Organ Donation which involved Brain Death and Coma, Organs can be donated; Transplantation of Human Organ Act 1994, Functions of Brain Stem, Importance of Donor card, Mrithasanjeevani, KNOS activity, KNOS website, Organ donation help line number and organs can be donated after natural death and brain death.  It was an interactive session where people raised few queries on organ allocation, whether the individual has to undergo any medical checkup before they register as an organ donor.

     

    50 members attended the programme. All the members filled the willing to donate form and it was handed over to Mrithasanjeevani.
