Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at KONE Elevators India Pvt Ltd.

  • On 20th December 2017, MOHAN Foundation was invited by KONE Elevator India PVT – Prestige Centre Court, Vadapalani, Chennai for a talk on Organ Donation. Mr. Dinesh – Facility Executive, made all the arrangements for the programme. This was part of the Times of India (TOI) for Organ Donation.  Mr. Siva Shankar - Helpline Executive, and Transplant coordinators, Mr. G. Santhosh Kumar and Ms. Persis Flory represented MOHAN Foundation

                    The programme started at 4.30 pm with a video regarding a small introduction of MOHAN Foundation and Organ donation followed by an Awareness talk by Mr. Siva Shankar - Helpline Executive. This presentation answered the following questions - “What is organ donation? Why should we donate organs? Who can donate organs? When we can donate? Types of donors, Myths regarding Organ Donation etc.

                    The staff were inquisitive to know about:

    • Can we use the transplanted organ again for someone?
    • Can liver be donated again and again as it has the power to grow?
    • Will the heart be in working condition when it is placed in sterile containers?
    • Does kidney transplant recipient have 1 kidney or 2?
    • What is the success ratio of organ transplantations?

    All the questions were answered by Mr. Siva Shankar and finally the programme concluded at 5.30 pm. Around 30 People participated in the programme, out of them 6 pledged as a organ donors. MOHAN Foundation thanks the Times of India for their support.
