• Mr. Sarungbam Kennedy Singh   - 42 Years

  
  Mr. Sarungbam Kennedy Singh, 42 years old, was an employee of HDFC Bank at the Imphal Branch. He was the father of two sons and the sole breadwinner of the family. They resided in their new home at Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai, away from their extended family. However, whenever his mother visited, Kennedy would request that she stay at his place. He was a joyful person who never complained. His mother was always concerned about the financial help he provided to friends and loved ones. Whenever someone asked for assistance, he shared whatever he had without thinking about what would come next.
  
  On July 25, 2023, he experienced multiple episodes of vomiting and required medical attention. They were rushed to Kripadashini Advanced Hospital in Palace Compound, Imphal, for evaluation. The entire family was shocked to learn that he was experiencing severe seizures. Kennedy's family had an uncle who was an intensivist at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Porompat, Imphal. He shared with the family that Kennedy was showing signs of hypoxic brain injury.
  
  MOHAN Foundation introduced Kennedy's wife and mother to organ donation, a relatively new topic in the region. The MF team counseled the family, and his mother said, "He always wanted to help people in any way he could, and the selfless help he gave to others was commendable." With a voice filled with sorrow, his wife expressed, "Even though we were unable to rescue him and still can't get over the shock of losing him, we want to help others by donating his organs. By our choice, his soul will continue to rest in peace." On August 2, 2023, the family consented to donate both his kidneys and agreed to cooperate with the process.
  
  On September 11, 2023, MF, along with JNIMS and Shija Hospitals & Research Pvt. Ltd., paid tribute with the grace of the Hon'ble Governor of Manipur, Ms. Anusuiya Uikey, to Kennedy's family for making the first deceased organ donation possible in Manipur and the first in all North-East India. The news was highlighted in all news and social media, making it an exemplary figure towards deceased organ donation and igniting a legacy of renewed hope for the community.
