Updated on Friday, September 3, 2021
  • MFJCF’s radio programme on organ donation for the rural areas of Rajasthan is being regularly broadcast on 101.2 AIR. A radio play which beautifully captures the essence of organ donation and informs the listeners about the toll-free organ donation helpline number is a feature of this programme. AIR has almost 4000-5000 live listeners via their mobile app, and via radio it covers 70% area of Rajasthan.

On 29th August 2021, along with the play, on the occasion of Eye Donation fortnight, Dr. Neeraj Shah, Cornea Transplant Surgeon from Sankara Eye Hospital was invited as a guest speaker. He answered some of the frequently asked questions regarding eye donation in the local language. Some of the questions that were answered were:

    • Why do we celebrate eye donation fortnight?
    • What is eye donation?
    • When is eye donation done?
    • Who can and cannot donate eyes?
    • How could one pledge for eye donation?
    • Some common myths related to eye donation

Towards the end, he shared an inspiring story about how giving someone the gift of sight can change someone’s whole life. He also informed the listeners to call the 24*7 toll-free organ donation helpline number 1800-103-7100 to know more about eye and organ donation and if they need any assistance regarding the same. This programme was sponsored by Sankara Eye Hospital and Young India Foundation.
