  • On March 21, 2014, the Rotary Club Noida invited MOHAN Foundation to give a talk on organ donation to the members of the Club.

Rotary club located all over the world is a secular organization open to all persons regardless of race, color, creed or political preference. There are more than 32,000 clubs and over 1.2 million members world-wide. The members of Rotary Clubs are known as Rotarians. The stated purpose of the organization is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Members usually meet weekly for breakfast, lunch or dinner, which is a social event as well as an opportunity to organize work on their service goals.

The session was organized by Mr. Deepak Bhargava, President, and Rotary Club of Noida. He was impressed with the work of the foundation and its activities towards the cause of organ donation especially after attending the event ‘PRATIGYA’ organized by the Rotary Club of Delhi South West last October where he heard the talk on organ donation given by the foundation’s representative.

The session started at 8.00 Pm. Mr. Deepak Bhargava introduced the topic and invited Dr. Muneet Sahi and Dr. Sourabh Sharma of MOHAN Foundation to elaborate the concept of organ donation. Dr. Sahi covered all the aspects of organ donation like legal issues related to organ donation, brain death, importance of donor card, religious aspect etc. followed by myths and misconceptions about organ donation.

During interaction, members and their wives clarified doubts on age and organ donation and organ allocation.

Around 70 members with their families attended the talk. 42 members picked up donor cards and registered as donors.
