Organ donation talk at St.Camillus Syro Malabar Catholic Church

    On 15th December 2013 Mr. Francis Jose, member of programme organizing committee, invited MOHAN Foundation, Chennai to give a talk on organ donation. The venue of the awareness was St.  Camillus Syro Malabar Catholic Church, Neelankarai, On behalf of MOHAN Foundation Ms. A. T. Sunitha, Transplant Coordinator gave a talk on the Concept of organ donation

     

    The programme  started with lighting of  the lamp. Fr. Nijo John Pallai, parish priest gave the Introductory Speech and Welcome Address.  After that Mr. Francis Jose addressed the gathering and Ms. Sunitha explained about the concept and importance of organ donation. She started the session with thean interaction with the audience. Later, she gave a PowerPoint presentation to explain about organ donation. The group very actively participated in the interaction.

     

    During her talk she covered following topics: importance of organ donation, types of donations – live and deceased donation; difference between coma, cardiac death and brain death, organs that can be donated, preservation time of organs, donor card and activities of MOHAN Foundation.

    Few queries was raised during the interaction: 

    1. Survival rate of the patient who has undergone organ transplantation.

    2. Activities of MOHAN Foundation

    3. Eye donation process - Whom to be contacted?

     

    Nearly 200 people participated in the programme and all of them pledged their organs by picking the donor card. Finally a vote of thanks was given by Mr. Francis Jose. He thanked MOHAN Foundation for the continuous support and cooperation for the good cause.
