Organ Donation awareness session at Avanti Hospital, Nagpur

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Miss.Dipti Somluwar, Program Officer of Avanti Hospital, Nagpur, to give a talk about Deceased Organ Donation. The session took place at their office on 30th July 2014.

     

    Miss. Kanchan Shewde, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation conducted that talk. She explained the concepts of Organ Donation; Brain Death and Organ Transplantation .She highlighted which organs and tissues can be donated after brain death, natural death, and live donation. She explained that after brain death it is impossible to come back to life & if the brain death patient’s family wants to donate organs, then they can help several people.

     

    After talk she gave information about MOHAN Foundation activities as well as helpline number. Thereafter he requested to all use MOHAN Foundation website and use to toll free number to clarify any doubts.36 participants were present for the awareness session. 5 nurses signed the pledge form as well as picked the donor card.

     

    Some question asked by the participant as given below.

    1. What is the process of body donation?
    2. What is difference between Body donation and Organ donation?
    3. If I sign the form, after my death how will you know?
    4. What are the age criteria of organ donation?

     

    At last Miss.Dipti Somulwar gave a vote of thanks to Miss. Kanchan Shewde as well as to the  Avanti Hospital participating nurses.
