On December 6, 2023, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador, MOHAN Foundation, set up an organ donation information desk at the First Responder Training Camp organised by Aldona Institute and Caring Souls in collaboration with EMRI Green Health Services (GVK Enterprises) and the Directorate of Health Services at Aldona Institute, Aldona, Bardez Goa.
The camp was held from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The attendees were the public, students, and nurses from the St. Bridget Institute of Home Nursing. The first responder training was about giving information and training to the public at large in various situations.
Mr. Gabriel spoke about organ donation and why it is needed to come forward and pledge to donate organs. He also spoke about whole-body donation, where two attendees gave their willingness to do the process of whole-body donation. He also highlighted the number of people on the waiting list managed by SOTTO-Goa and the hospitals licensed for retrieval and transplant.
Close to 80 FAQs giving information about organ donation were distributed and three individuals committed to organ donation by pledging their organs upon death.
