Organ Donation Awareness at a Law College in Nagpur

  Dr. Adhara Deshpande, Assistant Professor at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law invited MOHAN Foundation to educate the students of the NSS unit of the institute about organ donation and transplantation. Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Director of MOHAN Foundation was the speaker at the event which took place on 1^st February 2020. Dr. Deshpande briefly introduced the topic and the speaker.

  Dr. Wankhede addressed the students and spoke on the following topics:

  • What is organ donation?
  • Whom to contact for organ donation?
  • What is THO Act 1994?
  • What is natural death and brain death?
  • What is the eye donation process?
  • What is the body donation process?
  • Causes of brain death
  • Role of ZTCC in organ donation
  • MOHAN Foundation’s activities, its website and help line number

  Question asked by participants:

  • Where is the MOHAN Foundation office in Nagpur?
  • What is the time duration for organ donation?
  • What is natural death?

  Around 50 students were present at the event and 15 signed up to be organ donors. At the end of the session Dr. Deshpande delivered the vote of thanks.
