Organ Donation Awareness at Surana College, Bengaluru

  • Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS coordinated with Mr. Devender Singh, Manager – Administration of Surana College, Bengaluru to conduct an awareness session on 27th November 2021. The 2-hour session was attended by a total of 732 students and staff of the institution. MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Marulappa L N, Transplant Coordinator and Mrs. Ranjini, Project Manager.

    Mrs. Ranjini, in her talk, explained the following:

    • MOHAN Foundation – activities, mission, vision
    • concepts of organ and tissue donation
    • types of death - cardiac death and brain death
    • brain death declaration
    • procedures of deceased and living organ donation.
    • procedures of eye, skin, and bone donation
    • role of Jeevasarthakathe
    • transplant law
    • importance of a donor card
    • myths and facts related to organ donation

    myths and facts, and barriers to organ

    Towards the end of the session, a glimpse of the successful hand transplant of Ms. Shreya Siddanagowder was shared and a motivational video was played. 346 people signed up as organ donors during the occasion. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to the college management for the opportunity.
