Organ Donation Awareness at St. Joseph’s Degree and PG College, Hyderabad

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by St. Joseph’s Degree and PG College in Koti, Hyderabad to conduct an awareness programme on organ donation and transplantation on August 20th, 2019. The degree students as well as the faculty, already in the field of social activism and the members of National Service Society (NSS) were the participants.

    Social activism is an art of helping others who are in need. So, the session was started by Mr. Sachin Sunny with the topic of how to succeed in life for half an hour. He then continued with the importance of organ donation and transplantation. The term organ donation being unfamiliar to the students, a lot of questions, discussions and clarifications were used to make the session interactive.

    Later, Dr. Bhanu Prakash followed up with introduction about MOHAN Foundation and Jeevandan. The audience was very interactive and eager to know about this aspect and its procedure in detail. Many doubts and misconceptions that they had about this subject were clarified by Dr. Bhanu Prakash. Around 250 participants were present at the programme and a few them pledged their organs and received donor cards.  

    As the session concluded, the students got an idea about what organ donation is, who can donate organs, the types of organ donation, and a few other topics. Participants were very highly interested to promote organ donation and they assured that they would make their family, friends and others aware of it. The head of the NSS unit of the college also expressed willingness to sign a MoU with MOHAN Foundation in the upcoming days.
