On 5th March 2020, Nursing Students of Nursing College of Shri Bhausaheb Hire District Medical College Dhule and DHS Nandurbar Nursing College Visited to BJGMC and Sassoon hospital Pune for the purpose of orientation visit. Mr Ganpat Phatangare (staff of Sassoon hospital) requested Ms Pratima Phadatare to educate the students on Organ Donation.
Ms Pratima Phadatare held an awareness session on Organ Donation and introduced to MOHAN Foundation its Mission, Vision. She explained the concept of Organ and Tissue donation. She also explained types of death i.e. cardiac death and brain death and showed video on brain death declaration and Apnoea test and procedure of deceased organ donation and live organ donation. She elaborated procedure of skin, bone and eye donation. She also explained about the importance of participation of Staff Nurses along with Doctors in identification and maintenance of Brain Dead cases in hospital.
Around 30 Students of both colleges attended session on organ donation and were distributed information brochures, and given information about website and PGDTC course related to grief counseling and Organ Donation.
We are thankful to Nurse Educators Anita Sable, Ganesh Antre, and Namrata Madane for attending the session with their students and supporting the cause of organ donation.
