Nagpur drivers learn about organ donation from MOHAN Foundation

  • On 26 February 2016, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur Centre was invited by Dr. D. T. Powar, Regional Transport Officer, Nagpur to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving license.

    Mr. Bulu Behera delivered gave a PPP on Organ donation. In his talk he explained the following points-

    • Importance and need of Organ donation:
    • Types of donations –Live and deceased donation
    • Difference between Natural death, Coma and Brain Death.
    • THO Act and myths related to Organ donation
    • Eye donation, skin donation & whole body donation
    • Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.
    • Importance of Organ transplant Act & Role of ZTCC in Nagpur.

    It was a very interactive session. Approximately 60 persons were present during the talk. 12 drivers took the consent forms, and said they will discuss with their family members then sign consent form.

    Participants asked following question.

     In case of natural death what is the time duration for organ donation?

    Can patients in come donate their organs?

    Can a living person do a liver donation?
