SAARANG is the annual cultural festival of IIT Madras. It was held from 8th to 12th January 2014 in the IIT campus. Students from different colleges participated in the event. Mr. Avinash Ramani member of MOHAN Foundation, co-ordinated with the IIT team to set-up an information stall. From 9th to 12th January MOHAN Foundation set an awareness stall near Central Lecture Theatre, IIT Madras.
Mr. Jeyabal M, Mr. Prakash K, Transplant coordinators and Mr. Avinash Ramani from MOHAN Foundation manned the stall. Mr. Jeyabal M distributed the organ donation information brochure to the college students and parents. Mr. Mohan, a student visited our stall and become a volunteer, he supported us for the entire day on 9th January.
Visitors to the stall were told about: Importance of organ donation, Eye donation, difference between brain death & natural death and importance of donor card. Of the 100 people who visited the stall, 73 pledged their organs by signing the donor card.
