MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at St. John’s High School, Sector 26, Chandigarh

  • On 16th December 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs Shruti Garg, NSS Program Officer in St. John’s High School, Sector 26, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their NSS Students. Approximately 40 students from class 12th attended the session.

    Mrs. Shruti Garg, NSS Program Officer addressed the students and gave a brief introduction on Organ Donation to their students.

    Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is Organ donation and tissue donation and too many people waiting for transplant by Ms.Neha Sharma.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of the donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

    It was indeed an amazing session all the students were highly motivated and said they will come forth to make it success in their areas. In the end they were also told that it is very important to tell your family about their wish. Also, helping people to visualize the lifesaving impact that organ donation makes on their community.
