MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Red Cross - Punjab, Chandigarh - Session 25

  • On 12th October, 2016, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the secretary, Red Cross – Punjab, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk for their first aid students at Vivekanand Bhawan, Chandigarh. Around 12 students from various parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh patient care attendants and home nursing participated in the session.

     

    Students were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Deepika Arora.

    In this talk she explained the following points

    What is organ donation?

    When is organ transplant needed?

    Types of donors

    Tissues and organs that can be donated

    Importance of donor card

    Difference between natural death and brain death.

     

    Questions asked by participants: -

    Can brain be donated?

    Is a living donor healthy after donation?

    Can skin be donated?

     

    It was very interactive session. All participants picked a donor card.
