MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Program on Organ Donation for Rotary District 3080

  Rotary District 3080 comprising of 80 district and satellite Rotary Clubs has signed an MOU with MOHAN Foundation, to promote organ donation amongst members and families of Rotary Clubs in Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

   

  On 10^th August 2021, Mr. Sudhir Dewan was invited to conduct virtual organ donation awareness program for office bearers of all the Rotary Clubs falling under district 3080.

   

  Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Mr. Sudhir Dewan. 

   

  In this talk, he explained the following points: -

  • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
  • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
  • 5 myths with 5 facts on organ donation
  • Difference between natural death and brain death
  • Age is not a constraint for organ donation.
  • Real life story of an organ transplant patient was shared with the participants
  • Importance of donor card
  • To pledge their organs, they can register at MOHAN Foundation website
  • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

   

  Participants were greatly motivated after Mr. Dewan shared his own story and stories of other organ donations at Chandigarh. Most of the deceased organ donations at Chandigarh have been from people belonging to the above mentioned three states.

   

  Rotary office bearers were highly motivated and are now going to plan awareness programs for their individual clubs.
