Concluding session of the first batch of Angels of Change in Chennai

  • The final day of the first batch of the Angels of Change Program had medical students from Tagore Medical College and 5 Life Members of MOHAN Foundation. The program was conducted by MOHAN Foundation on 24th June 2017 at 2:00PM.

    The session began with a recall of the previous session at Government Stanley Medical College.  The four groups presented their outputs, such as plans, posters, short films and games that they developed for awareness on Organ Donation.

    Two guest speakers were invited to motivate the Angels.

    Dr. Hemal Kanvinde introduced Dr. J Amalorpavanathan, Former Director, Institute of Vascular Surgery, Madras Medical College and Former Member Secretary, TRANSTAN and requested him to explain about the Ethical Issues in Organ Donation and Transplantation. He started the session with various questions on, what is ethics in general and made the participants think about it. The participants had difficulties answering the questions raised by Dr. J. Amalorpavanathan on the Ethical Issues. The session went on for 45 minutes. He explained in depth all the ethical issues so that each participant could understand the situation in our country about Organ Donation. Many questions were raised by the participants, for that the answers were explained in an easy way that everyone understood it properly.

    Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee, MOHAN Foundation then gave a small talk on how to use social media to spread the concept of Organ Donation. Every participant promised to do so. They used special message boards and took their pictures to share it on their Facebook wall and other social media sites.
