  • Senior Citizen Association of Orchid Petal Society, Gurgaon organized a talk on Organ Donation and transplantation on November 12, 2013 for members of the society. The talk was coordinated by Ms Seema Yadav (Transplant Coordinator, Medanta Medicity), who was approached by Dr Vivekananda Sachdeva, a proactive member of the society.

Amit Kumar conducted the talk along with Ms Seema Yadav and Dr Sourabh Sharma. The session included topics such as Brain death, whole body donation and the growing requirements of the Indian population when it comes to end stage organ failure.

Ms Seema Yadav talked in detail, about the little understood topic of brain death and it’s diagnosis. The interaction level of the small but active group was commendable since the members were well informed and had already given a good thought to this delicate yet crucial subject of Organ donation. Dr Vivekananda already had spent time with the residents encouraging them to be a part of this initiative. Many of those present were keen to know more about whole body donation.

17 members attended the session and 10 members took the donor card.
