Awareness session on Organ Donation at Lifeline Hospital, Panvel, Navi Mumbai

  • 28th July 2018, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai was invited by Lifeline Hospital, Panvel, Navi Mumbai to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for their doctors and resident staff.

     

    The session began by Mr. Amit Shenoy asking the participants what comes to their mind when one speaks about Organ Donation. There were positive responses. He went on to introduce MOHAN Foundation, its mission; vision and history were introduced to the staff. The concept of organ donation was introduced, types of organs and tissues that can be donated, types of death, the concept of brain death, video was shown on what is Brain death, how to identify brain death, difference between brain death and coma were also discussed.

     

    Various myths and facts about organ donation were discussed by Jigisha Yadav.  Information about organ allocation, and distribution were also shared.

     

    There were about 60 to 65 participants present. 20 participants pledged to be organ donors. We thank Dr. Rajesh Shah and Dr. Jayshree Patil of Lifeline Hospitals, Panvel, Navi Mumbai for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
