Awareness session for Income Tax employees at Aayakar Bhavan, Mumbai office

  • On 8th August 2023 MOHAN Foundation conducted a session on 'Organ Donation' for Income Tax employees at Aayakar Bhavan, Mumbai.

    The Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Smt. Geetha Ravichandran, under whose guidance the event was made possible. Ms.Jaya Jairam, Project Director MOHAN Foundation, Mumbai was the speaker at the session that was attended by more than 120 employees of the Income Tax Department.

    Ms. Jaya Jairam used Power Point Presentation to introduce the topic of Organ donation and its concepts. She kept the session interactive and she put forth the question to the audience’’What comes to your mind when you think about Organ donation?''. The audience responded mostly with positive sharing; a few also expressed apprehension about the negative aspects that they have read in the newspapers. They showed keen interest and curiosity to know more about the topic.

    Ms. Jaya Jairam explained the concepts of brain death, the difference between brain death and cardiac death. The employees were very much intrigued and shared their thoughts and experiences.

    The following topics were discussed in the course of the session: -

    ●       What is brain stem death?

    ●       Why do people say NO to Organ donation?

    ●       Why is Organ Donation an uncomfortable topic?

    ●       What is the difference between Coma, cardiac death and brain death?

    ●       How can one register to be an organ donor?

    ●       How can one come to know whether he/she has donated her organs legally? Which all Organs can be donated? Can skin be donated?

    ●       How is Organ pledge registration documented?
