On April 16, 2023, SKNS PMC Vivekananda Vidyalaya Junior College, Chennai arranged a blood donation camp and information talks and information desk on Organ Donation. MOHAN Foundation was given an opportunity to enlighten the staff on the Concepts of Organ Donation and Transplantation.
The session began with Tamil Thai Vazhthu (State anthem of Tamil Nadu). Mr. Vinoth, (Alumnae of Vivekanandha Vidyalaya) and Principal welcomed the guests and introduced them to the audience. Shri K.E Srinivasan (Correspondent), addressed the gathering and highlighted the Importance of Organ Donation and Blood Donation. The Chief guests of the day were Dr. M. A. Ziaullah Khan M.B.B.S, M.N.A.M.S (General Surgeon) and V. Srinivasan (Business Prop. Valli Mahal). Dr. M. A. Ziaullah Khan explained salient points of Organ donation and Blood donation and requested the gathering to learn well and decide.
Ms. Arshiya Fathima H (Helpline Counselor, MOHAN Foundation) and Yamini .M (Community Education Executive) were the resource persons of the day. Ms. Arshiya gave a short talk on the concepts, law, myths, process for pledging organs and other relevant facts about organ donation, skin donation and eye donation.
Once the blood donation camp started the Organ Donation information desk was set up with standee, brochures, green ribbon, and donor Card. The facility of a tollfree Helpline was explained to the visitors. Around 200 people came for the camp and around 150 visited the Information desk and 12 people picked the donor card.
