On 28th October, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation and transplantation was organised as an initiative of CSR Team of VWR International LLC, Coimbatore. MOHAN Foundation was requested to address the staff of the company. VWR supplies critical products such as chemicals, furniture, equipment, instruments, apparel and consumables to the companies in the pharmaceutical, biotech, industrial, educational, governmental and healthcare industries.
Ms. S. Kavitha, Marketing Manager, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted two sessions. She spoke to the audience about Concepts of Organ Donation. She elaborated on the following topics: difference between brain death, cardiac death and coma; importance of carrying a donor card; procedure followed for eye donation; the Transplantation of Human Organs Act and the toll free helpline. Further; she encouraged each one of them to take responsibility to spread awareness about organ donation.
380 people attended the session. Since it was large group the 400 donor cards and information brochures were left with the CSR team.
