MOHAN Foundation conducts an awareness program at Abha Gaikwad Patil College of Engineering

  • On 6th January 2014 Dr. Ravi Wankhede Director, Mr. Bulu Behera & Miss. Kanchan Shewde Transplant co-ordinator of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur Centre, were invited by Principal Karnal Sharma at Abha Gaikwad Patil college of Engineering, Nagpur to give a talk on deceased organ donation. Dr. Ravi Wankhede spoke to the  engineering students & staff of the college.

     

    Dr. Ravi Wankhede gave a talk on  Concepts of organ donation and the need for organs. He spoke about the process of donation and how Brain Death is death and  is final. During the talk he said it is possible if the relatives of brain death patient consent to donate the organs.  Organs such as Kidney, Heart, Liver, Pancreas, and corneas  etc. can be donated. He gave information about MOHAN Foundation activities,  helpline number & donor card.

     

    After the talk participants discussed the following questions.

    1.       What is brain death? In brain death cease which vital organ & tissues can be donated?

    2.       What are the age limits for eye donation?

    20 participants signed the pledge form and were issued the donor card out of 52. Assistant Professor Gajanan Patil gave a vote of thanks to MOHAN Foundation as well as participant. There after program was over.
