  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs. Neeta Sabrad to conduct an awareness session with the procession of Organ Donation on the occasion of Gudi Padwa on 28th March, 2017.

All the society members of Sai Krupa Society, including the small kids, gathered together for the procession in support of Organ Donation. The procession took place within the Kashish Park compound.

After the procession Mrs. Jaya Jairam addressed the crowd and started the awareness session by talking about MOHAN Foundation and its activities. Then she talked on what is organ donation, why, how, when, and by whom it can be done. She spoke on what brain death is and how it should not be confused with coma. She further discussed on the barriers, myths and facts of Organ Donation.

Mrs Jaya Jairam ended the session by sharing her own story of what she went through when her own kidneys failed, how she received a kidney from her own mother and how all of this motivated her to join the cause of organ donation. The society committee members honoured one of their own member families who had recently lost a loved one and had donated his eyes. The daughter of the family spoke about the brave decision taken by her family and how her father’s social works inspired them to decide in favour of donating his eyes.

Lastly a 2 minute video on how One Donor can save Many Lives and that death is not the end was shown. The society members lastly felicitated the MOHAN Foundation Mumbai team.

Out of 50 members present, 40 of them pledged their wish by signing up and taking the donor card and all of them were given informative brochures.

We thank Mrs. Neeta Sabrad for inviting us to be a part of this gathering, therefore giving us the opportunity to make more people aware of Organ Donation.
