On 15th September, 2013 a sensitisation talk on organ donation was organised for the Security Officers (shift 1) of Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Puducherry. Mr. Ananth R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted the session.
There were eleven officers who participated in the session. The information was imparted through a one on one interaction with them. Mr. Ananth, in his interaction focused on increasing their awareness about the processes in organ donation, specially grief counseling. Some of the issues that were discussed during the interaction were: Legal issues in organ donation, difference between brain death and coma, the organs that can be donated, about eye donation.
All the 11 participants supported the cause by signing the donor card.
