Awareness Session on Organ Donation at CLP India Pvt Ltd., Goregaon East, Mumbai

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Benita D’souza, HR of CLP India Pvt. Ltd., to conduct an awareness session on organ donation on 13th October 2016.

     

    Mrs. Jaya Jairam conducted the session and addressed around 25 employees who were made aware of who qualifies to be an organ donor and which organs and tissues can be donated depending on either cardiac death or brain stem death. Then she touched upon the need for viable organs in India and why the country is lagging on the issue of Organ Donation.

     

    She also clarified which Organs and tissues can be donated by a Live Donor and by a Deceased Donor. The Laws and agencies involved were briefly touched upon.

     

    She spoke about the cultural barriers and religious beliefs relating to Organ Donation and shared the views of some of Spiritual leaders. She talked about how one could support Organ Donation by registering online, taking up Organ Advocacy and spreading awareness through social media.

     

    The employees were given information brochures and 5 members have pledged to be an Organ Donor.
