MOHAN Foundation conducted awareness session on Organ Donation conducted at NSS Camp at Dr. Ambedkar Social Work College, Nagpur.

  • On April 8, 2024 an awareness session on Organ Donation was conducted at NSS Camp, Dr.Ambedkar Social Work College, New Kailash Nagar, Nagpur. Dr. Vinod Gajghate, CollegePrincipal invited MOHAN Foundation Mr. Bulu Behera to sensitize Camp students on Organdonation. This NSS camp was held at Champa village which is 30 KM. away from Nagpur City.

    The following topics were addressed during the session-

     What is organ donation? Who can donate an organ?

     What is brain death and natural death?

     After brain death, which organs and tissues can be donated?

     After natural death, which tissues can be donated, and the necessary conditions?

     What is the difference between coma and brain death?

     Is organ donation possible if the patient is in a coma?

     What is the criteria for living donation?

     Information regarding body donation and eye donation

     What are the legal and ethical implications of organ donation?

     What does the Transplantation of Human Organs Act of 1994 say about organ donation?

     Role of MOHAN Foundation in organ donation?

     Government and private scheme regarding organ transplant.During the session.

    The following queries were raised by the camp students

    1) How much it cost for kidney transplant in Private & Govt. Hospital?

    2) What’s the waiting time period on waiting list for Deceased Kidney Transplant?

    Nearly 52 students were presented and 6 (six) of them gave Consent for organ donation.
