Batch 25 of Organ Donation Ambassadors complete their training

  • A small group of people joined the 25th batch of Organ Donation Ambassadors module 2 training on 30th Sept 2023. Ranging from school students to senior social workers  the group of 6 motivated individuals interacted on a zoom platform with experts, undertook a Gratitude Workshop and also learnt how to make a presentation and means of reaching to the public. 

    The Module 2 started with a short summation of the Training and expectations by Dr Hemal Kanvinde,  followed by self introduction by the participants. 

    The second session was interactions with stakeholders in the field of donation and transplantation.  The experts were: Dr Sanjiv Nair, Consultant Nephrologist, MMM Hospital Chennai; Ms Veena Wathore, Project Manager MF, Nagpur; Dr Muneet Kaur Sahi, Project Manager MF,  Delhi NCR,; Mr B. Sudhakar Dual Lung Recipient Chennai and Dr Hemal Kanvinde Q&A Officer MOHAN Foundation. 

    The discussion was based on topics of cornea donation, organ rejection, counseling of transplant recipient to maintain compliance with medicines,  importance of counseling, contraindication to donation and types of cancer, the inclusion of nursing homes as donation centers, state institutions and organ donation, living donation and carver donation what is better? 

    After nearly 1.5 hours of discussion, the group settled for a Gratitude Workshop conducted by Ms Ishwarya T, ex MOHAN Foundation staff. She spoke of the donor family and the  feelings of a recipient.  She asked the candidates to write as if they have received an organ and wish to express their gratitude to the donor families. All letters were read out and Ms Ishwarya commented on them.  It was an emotional session for all the candidates.

    The last session was on ways to create awareness on organ donation. This session was conducted  by Dr Hemal Kanvinde, wherein she showed the different ways of creating awareness, from basic talks and rallies to conferences and using online platform  and using art and local culture to get the message across. 

    The Ambassadors were thankful for the session and promised to start their activities, They also expressed their wish to be linked with other ambassadors.
