Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Purohit Hospital, Panvel, Mumbai

  • MOHAN Foundation Mumbai was invited at Purohit Hospital, Panvel, Mumbai for conducting an awareness talk for their staff, on 9th May 2018.

    Mrs. Jigisha Yadav, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, conducted the session. She began by asking the audience as to what came to their minds when they thought of Organ Donation. Some expressed positive views – “It can Save Lives”, “Live Forever”, “Noble Deed”, etc., while a few expressed their inner fears – “Will the organs be put to correct use”, “What is the guarantee there will be no scams”.

    MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and history were introduced to the staff. The concept of organ donation was introduced, types of organs and tissues that can be donated, types of death, the concept of brain death, difference between brain death and comma. Mrs. Jigisha Yadav also discussed the various myths and facts for organ donation. Information about organ allocation, and distribution were also shared. A few queries were raised, which were satisfactorily answered.

    There were 20 staff members who attended the session and many took the pledge. We thank Dr. Purohit and Mrs. Swati ( HR department) for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
