An Organ Donation awareness talk at Anugraha School for Mentally Challenged, Chennai

  • On 8th January 2014, Anugraha (Non Governmental Organization) School for Mentally Challenged, Perambur, Chennai invited MOHAN Foundation to present a talk on Organ Donation. The focus of the talk was to sensitization the teachers and parents on organ donation. Mr. Prakash K, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai gave a talk on Organ Donation. The programme began with a welcome address by Sis. Betti, Principal of the school. She shared about the importance of the talk then welcomed the parents of all her students and her staff. 

     

    Mr. Prakash explained the following topics;

    • Importance of Organ Donation
    • Difference between the Brain Death and Coma 
    • The process of Eye Donation 
    • What organs and tissues can be donated  
    • What organs can be donated by a living person 

     

    At the end of the session the participants asked several queries such as how to register for organ transplantation, the time limit for cornea donation and whom to contact and how, importance of donor card then the queries were answered by the transplant coordinator. Later in the session the Principal gave vote of thanks and out of 50 participants 40 of them picked Donor Cards and supported the noble cause.
