AINU’s Kidney Run supports MOHAN Foundation’s efforts to create awareness on Organ Donation

  • As a start to the celebration of World Kidney Day, MOHAN Foundation set an Information desk at the 5 Km Kidney Run organized by Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU).  This event occurred on March 5, 2023 from  5.30 am to 9.30 am at the Olcott School, Besant Nagar Chennai. 

    The information desk was decorated with standees, a large heart, information brochures about Organ Donation, Ambassador Training, Transplant Coordinators Training, donor cards, green ribbons, wristbands and badges. MOHAN Foundation staff Mr. Manikandan, Mr. Kennedy, Ms. Yamini, Dr. Hemal Kanvinde and Intern Ms. Prathyusha manned the stall.  Mr Kennedy ran the marathon.

    More than 400 runners participated in the Marathon. About 200 of them visited the information desk. All visitors were given information about organ donation, need to speak to family about their choice to become me an organ donor and contact details of MOHAN Foundation. Nearly 57 runners picked a donor card.  

    The queries from the visitors were:  

    How do we contact MOHAN Foundation in case of death. 

    I have pledged for eye donation should we register again for organ donation?

    Why is skin donation needed?

    Does MOHAN Foundation take and distribute the organs? 

    All queries were answered by Mohan Foundation staff. 

     

    Thiru. Ma. Subramanian, Hon. Minister for Health, Health Education and Family Welfare, Govt of Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution Ceremony. He mentioned that health is wealth, keeping our organs healthy will make us more efficient to do our work and achieve our dreams.
