MOHAN FOUNDATION conducted an Organ Donation Awareness program at C.S.I Corley Higher Secondary School , Tambaram Chennai . 450 students of 11thstandard students and 7 tutors gathered in the open area under the shade of neem trees to attend the program on 1st September 2016.
Mr. Periyanayagam and Mr. Abinav, Transplant coordinators of MOHAN Foundation conducted the session. Ms. Priya student of social work department of Hindustan college, currently doing her field work in MOHAN FOUNDATION took the initiative to organise the program in school.
The Principal and Head Master welcomed the team from MOHAN FOUNDATION. He also explained the importance of organ donation.
Mr. Periyanayagam deleivered the talk on organ donation. He started with the history of MOHAN FOUNDATION and the activities of the foundation. Then he explained the concepts of organ donation , the Transplantation of Human organs Act , types of death, who can donate,. He clarified the different between cardic death and brain death, the organs which can donated after cardic death and brain death, the legal and ethical aspects of organ donation and the process of pledging to organs.
Students are very alert and smart in the session. After the talk there was some discussion which was done by Mr. Abhinav. The session was concluded by Assistant Head Master . He requested MOHAN Foundation to have followup sessions with his students.
