Drivers in Nagpur learn about organ donation

  • On 25 May 2018, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at the Regional Transport Office Giripeth, Nagpur. It was for drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving license. The invitation for the talk was extended by Mr. Sharad Jighkar, Regional Transport Officer.

    Mr. Bulu Behera Transplant Coordinator,  MOHAN Foundation Nagpur explained the concepts through a powerpoint presentation. He explained for following points:

    v  What is Organ Donation?

    v  Why, Who How and when of Organ donation

    v  Law in India on Organ Donation and Transplantation

    v  Difference between Brain Death, Natural Death and Coma

    v  Myths  and facts related to Organ donation

    v  Deceased donation case in Nagpur

    v  Kidney transplant hospital in Nagpur

    v  Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and Website

    It was a very interactive session. 28 drivers were present at the talk. 4 drivers signed consent form and took donor cards.

    The drivers asked the following questions:-

    • Why brain transplant is not possible?
    • What is the cost for a liver transplant?
    • Where is MOHAN Foundation office in Nagpur?
