Oldest ever Brain dead donor in the world - at 84 donates liver.

• Alexandra Edelman,an 84-year-old was declared brain dead in an Isreli Hospital.The brain-dead woman's liver has been successfully implantedinto the body of a 59-year-old woman,making her one of the oldest organ donors in the world,according to a media report.A medical team requested her family to donate her organ after an examination revealed Alexandra's liver to be intact and functional.Her relatievs agreed for the doantions instantly as a fitting tribute to her helping tendencey.
  The transplant surgery itself took place last November but the organ recipient,Inna Rubinstein, was discharged from the Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva only a few days ago after doctors declared her long recovery process successful.
  In wake of the success of the transplant,physicians say they hope to see an increase of donors in Israel."I hug the donor's family and thank them with all my heart, for the altruism and the noble deed that saved my life. I hope they experience no more sorrow", said Rubinstein,the recipient .The donors' age limit stands at 55, but this was the third case in Israel when such an operation.
