Residents of Channasandra, Bengaluru learn about Organ Donation

  • Mr. Shridhar Hanchinal of MOHAN Foundation received a call from a Karnataka Sangha Member Mr. Rahul, to conduct an awareness session in Channasandra locality for the public, during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations. Mr. Rahul had earlier attended an awareness session organized by MOHAN Foundation and decided that he would organise one along with a blood donation camp.

    Mrs. Ranjini, Project Manager of MOHAN Foundation conducted an interactive session and set up an all-day help desk on 28th November 2021 at Channasandra. Around 641 members attended the session and many more participating in the celebrations visited the help desk. Shri. Nellorehalli Nagesh inaugurated the event and spoke a few words, appreciating the work of MOHAN Foundation. Mrs. Ranjini spoke about the following:

    • MOHAN Foundation – activities, mission, vision
    • concepts of organ and tissue donation
    • types of death - cardiac death and brain death
    • brain death declaration
    • procedures of deceased and living organ donation.
    • procedures of eye, skin, and bone donation
    • role of Jeevasarthakathe
    • transplant law
    • importance of a donor card
    • myths and facts, and barriers to organ

    Shri. Manjunath, Mr. Rahul’s father, who was impressed by the work of MOHAN Foundation, expressed his wish to conduct more events in with collaboration with the Foundation.

    Around 208 people signed up as organ donors during the event. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Mr. Rahul for the opportunity.
