Organ Donation awareness talk conducted at School of Physiotherapy, Bharti Hospital, Pune

  • On 30th September, 2022, organ donation awareness talk was conducted by Mr. Jagdish Borude at School of Physiotherapy, Bharti Hospital, Pune.

    The talk was organised with the help of Dr. Ujwal Yewale and Dr. Amogh Kulkarni- Professors of the college. Students and staff of Physiotherapy department attended this session.

    Mr. Jagdish was the key resource for the session. He introduced MOHAN Foundation and its activities.

    He then discussed the following topics on organ donation:

    1. Concept of organ donation and tissue donation
    2. Concept of Brain death
    3. Types of death- Brain death and cardiac death
    4. Organs and tissues donated after brain death and circulatory death
    5. Why organ donation is important in India?
    6. How one can save lives of 8 people
    7. How one can register in waiting list after organ failure
    8. THOA and THOTA act

    Following questions were asked by the students:

    1)      Can reproductive organs be transplanted?

    2)      What are the survival rates of transplanted patients?

    3)      Can cataract and poor eye sight patient's cornea be donated?

    Close to 150 people attended this session. We thank the management and the authorities for inviting us and supporting the cause of organ donation.
