Farmer riding across country halts at Government Medical College Nagpur to spread the organ donation message

  • On 5th December 2018, Dr. Nagesh Tirpude of Trauma Department, Government Medical College Medical Square, Nagpur organized an awareness programme to educate people about organ donation.

    Mr. Pramod Mahajan, a farmer who has been in the news for his 10,000 KM bike expedition to create awareness about organ donation was invited by the hospital to deliver a talk. A kidney donor himself, he is planning to drive across the entire nation covering 18 states and educate people about organ donation. Mr. Mahajan, a member of ReBirth Foundation, Pune, which is also funding this initiative, is left with 11 more states to visit to wrap up the rally by 25th January 2019 which had begun on 21st October 2018.

    Mr. Mahajan interacted with the public, answering questions related to organ donation which included the following:

    • What is organ donation?
    • Who can be organ donors?
    • What are the benefits available to the general public after organ donation?
    • What is MOHAN Foundation and what are its activities?

    In a programme that had around 40 people in attendance, 3 registered as organ donors. Dr. Tirpude thanked Mr. Mahajan, the participants and MOHAN Foundation to end the session.
