Students of computer science department of SA College of Arts and Science commemorated World Donation Day on August 23, 2023. They created awareness across Poonamallee - Avadi Main Road Veeraraghavapuram, Thiruverkadu, Chennai through a human chain, holding placards with awareness drawings on chanting slogan promoting organ donation. On the same day an awareness session was organized for students of computer science department by MOHAN Foundation.
The session begun with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, and welcome address note by Mr. Chandrasekar P, Head of Department, Computer Science & Applications. One of the students introduced the speaker Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer to the gathering. Dr. Hemal, commenced talk with “Donor” video by Director Vijay and walked the students through the concept to organ donation, brain death, pledging as donors, what and how donation happens. Mr. Ganesh C, Marketing Coordinator, continued the session and conducted quiz on organ donation and explained how to effectively use the organ donation helpline 1800 103 7100.
189 students and staff participated and all extended their support by pinning up green ribbons and picking up information brochures. The session ended with a mashup of video of student’ morning human chain. The Seminar concluded with a vote of thanks and National Anthem.
