On 17th September, 2013 an awareness talk on organ donation was organized by KAIRALI Arts and Sports Club at Konni, Pathanamthitta, Kerala. The talk was part of Onam celebration. The session was conducted by Mr. Aneesh P. V., Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Trivandrum.
The presentation made by him focused on the following topics: what is organ donation, importance of organ donation, difference between coma and brain death, about tissue donation, difference between cardiac death and brain death, about the importance of the donor card and about the role played by Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala in facilitating deceased organ donation in the State.
Around 50 members participated in the session. The participants raised questions related to eye donation and about the procedure for whole body donation. At the end 80 % of the participants came forward and pledged their organs by signing the donor card. The members of KAIRALI expressed their willingness to spread awareness about the issue.
