A few interesting facts :

Cholesterol is a fat like substance produced mainly in the liver. 
It's main function -making of cell membranes and production of certain hormones.
Foods with a high cholesterol content are always of animal-origin, like beef, pork, mutton, eggs, milk, butter, etc.
Hypercholesterolemia - a major risk factor for coronary heart disease, which leads to heart attack.
