Organ donation awareness session for the students of Indirapuram Public School, Ghaziabad

  • On May 5, 2016, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation for the students of class XI at Indirapuram Public School, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. The session was coordinated by the team of Times of India, 5th in the school series towards creating awareness on organ donation.

     

    Indirapuram Public School began as Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School in Mumbai in the year 2003 and then set its course on its own in the year 2007. Beginning its journey under the guidance of Bhavan's Shikshan Bharti, Mumbai, the school has evolved & established excellent systems, which enable the children studying in it to receive the best of education and extracurricular activities.

     

    Ms. Anjali Verma (Vice Principal, IPS) extended a warm welcome to Dr. Muneet Sahi and also introduced her to the students and other staff attending the session.

     

    Dr. Muneet began the session by introducing to the participants the basic concepts of organ donation and transplantation. The talk  mainly focussed on brain death & cardiac death, India's organ donation rate, cornea donation and various myths & misconceptions related to organ donation. Many students gave valuable inputs regarding brain death, coma, eye donation, organs that can be donated while a person is alive and after death.

     

    The students actively asked questions and also participated in the discussion that ensued after every query. The students level of interest and their knowledge of the subject was remarkable. Overall the session was interactive, interesting and enjoyable.

     

    The session concluded with Ms. Anjali Verma felicitating Dr. Muneet with a 'thank you' card. A total of 110 students and few of the senior faculty attend the session.
