A dental hygiene awareness camp was organised at the ongoing NSS camp at Panjab University. NSS programme officer Dr Ikreet Singh gave a presentation on the importance of dental hygiene and its impact on general well-being. This was followed by dental screening examination of 232 NSS student volunteers.
Pramod Lakshman Mahajan, a 67-year-old farmer hailing from Sangli, Pune, has embarked on a journey across the country on a two-wheeler to propagate organ donation. He has taken up a 10,000-km expedition pan-India in 100 days, visiting major places to send his message across.

For the fourth consecutive year, Tamilnadu tops the list in organ donation in India. Reports suggest the Transplant Authority of Tamilnadu (Transtan) has performed 459 heart, 339 lung, 1,103 liver and 2,147 kidney transplant surgeries so far since 2008. Tamilnadu Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar and senior officials received the award at a function held in New Delhi today.

The organ retrieval units at Government Medical College, and Mayo Hospital have witnessed only one successful transplant each until now. The procedure for organ retrieval has been marred with many challenges. To overcome them, two individuals from Nagpur will be placed as medical coordinators in both hospitals, and are expected to start duties from the first week of December.
