Public awareness session on organ donation for the employees of Tata Consultancy Services Limited, Gurgaon

  • On 10th September 2014, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR office conducted an awareness session on organ donation for the employees of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd in Gurgaon. Mr Karan Singh Operations Manager, TCS took the initiative to organise the session and the process was coordinated by Ms Vijaya Victor from Human Resource, TCS.

     

    TATA Consultancy Services Limited (TCSL) is a multinational information technology (IT) service, consulting and business solutions company headquartered in India. It is a subsidiary of the Tata Group and is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India. TCS is the largest India-based IT services company by 2013 revenues and is now placed among the ‘Big 4’ most valuable IT services brands worldwide. In 2013, TCS is ranked 40th overall in the Forbes World's Most Innovative Companies ranking, making it both the highest-ranked IT services company and the top Indian company. It is the world's 10th largest IT services provider, measured by revenues.

     

    The session covered key issues like need for organ donation, organ donation rate, brain death and myths surrounding organ donation. Even in a small group of 50 people, there were two individuals who had had a family member undergo transplantation reinforcing the importance and the need of such sessions. The volume of queries were overwhelming and all were answered in a simple and easily understood manner.

     

    The session finished around 8 in the evening and 33 donor cards were picked up.
