Updated on Tuesday, February 14, 2012
  • MOHAN Foundation team was invited by Cognizant Technology Solutions, Thoraipakkam, to conduct Organ Donation Awareness to their employees as a part of their project named “Touching Lives”. More than 600 employees participated in the seven sessions, which was split from February 9th 2012 to February 11th 2012.

To give a crisp idea of Organ Donation, a documentary movie was shown in the beginning of the presentation. Transplant Coordinators Ms. Sindhuja, Ms. Jessi and Ms. Veena explained the concept of:

    • Organ Donation
    • Organ Transplantation
    • Brain Death
    • Live Donation
    • Deceased Donation

The audience were enlightened by the talk as they were taken through a new topic altogether and who were not aware about brain death and deceased donation earlier. Organs that an individual can donate during life and after death was explained to them. The difference between coma and brain death was also told to them. MOHAN Foundation’s work in this field was appreciated and was told that they would extend their support for all the Foundation’s activities and events. The importance of “Donor Card” was emphasized and many raised questions like:

    • What is the Act that supports Organ Donation and Transplantation?
    • What is the statistics of road accident and brain death annually?
    • Can a brain dead person opt for brain transplant?
    • How a patient should register in the Cadaver Transplant Programme?

All their queries were answered. At the end of the session, nearly 500 employees picked up the Donor Cards and supported the cause of Organ Donation.
